Is Applebee’s Trying to Fool People?

While many businesses have been suffering during the Coronavirus pandemic, food delivery apps like Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats have flourished.

On the other hand, many restaurants have been devastated by the pandemic. In fact,  the National Restaurant Association says, “The restaurant industry, more than any other industry in the nation, has suffered the most significant sales & job losses since the Covid-19 outbreak began.”

Some critics claim that food delivery services are actually hurting restaurants. For example, published an article about the high price restaurants pay to those delivery services.’s article included a post that a pizza restaurant owner put on Facebook showing the costs associated with GrubHub orders. In the post, the owner (Giuseppe Badalamenti) said, “Stop believing you are supporting your community by ordering from a 3rd party delivery company.”

Speaking of supporting your community, earlier this month we told you about how Chuck E. Cheese had fooled some Grubhub users into thinking they were ordering food from a local restaurant by using the name Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings on Grubhub.

Now, according to, it has come to light that Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill has been doing a similar thing. says Applebee’s has been using the name “Neighborhood Wings” on Grubhub. does note that unlike Chuck E. Cheese, Applebee’s does call the “ghost” restaurant Neighborhood Wings by Applebee’s, but when we did a search on Grubhub, we just found “Neighborhood Wings”. So what do you think? Is Applebee’s trying to be deceptive or not? Let us know what you think in the comments.
